Any thoughts on how to kill the pacifier habit? I want Niki to be completely independent of them before we go to Thailand in December (did I mention that we are going to Thailand in December?) She has been a crib only (and a little in the car) pacifier child for about 6 months now. But she has to have two to sleep with - one in her mouth and another to hold. She even knows the difference between the two. My sister-in-law Ashley cut the nips off of her daughter Velzy's pacifiers to quit her of the habit so I decided to cut the one that she holds to see what she would do. I told her it was broken and she was so confused about it. When I put her in her crib to sleep last night she handed me the broken one and said "broken." So she didn't want it? But now I'm scared to do the one she actually sleeps with.
Any other suggestions or should I just "break" the other one too?

you can trade it for something else- blanket, doll, stuffed animal? have the "binkie fairy" come and get it for the new babies and get a replacement trade. saw it on supernanny.
you did?!? awesome. and she gave it back and said broken? i think cutting the nips is the best way to do it! ha ha i would give it a try with the other one too, see what happens.
oh, and rad blog make over, super cool!
the niputting seemsto have worked prett well! I would comnie that with giving her a soft doll to cuddle with. Maybe that would work?
Your blog is awesome! I also love that picture of nikki on the side! very cool
love the new look bets.
Hey Betsy It is me Abby, Claudia's daughter. I got this from her!
I think to cut it is a great idea, but I didn't cut the nopple off I cut a slit into it and so when Dylan put it in her mouth she looked at me and I told her she sucked on it to hard and she needed to throw it away! I also did the paci fairies, and that worked by far the best.
you can check out my blog if yiu want to www.polkadotsnblox.blogspot.com
I can not believe how big Nikki is getting! Your family is cute as always, take care chat soon!
just do it! trust me, i was scared as to how my kids would get off of theirs, but i just did it cold turkey and you know what? they forget about them real fast. faster than you think. a day or two. seriously. just don't mention it and don't have any in sight.
I also saw the paci fairy on supernanny (of course I did. I always watch that show.) Whatever you choose to do-good luck! I'm sure I will be facing the same situation sometime soon. I like your new look and the cute pictures!
I love the new blog look. Sweet pictures too. Who took the family one? Pretty eyes Cooper.
The only thing I've heard is what Ashley did. If it worked with one I say that you keep to that.
Betsy...I have no paci advice since I have not come to that stage. Jadin never liked the paci, but he has a bear that he HAS to have. But I remember my sister-in-law just got rid of ALL paci's in her house and then they were out-of-sight, out-of-mind. But it's so much easier said than done. Jadin would be so heartbroken if his bear disappeared with no goodbyes. That paci fairy idea is so cute. Good luck! Nikki is so dang cute! you guys look so happy too. love ya!
You're going to Thailand?! How awesome!!
